City of Toronto to raise AFC Toronto flag ahead of inaugural home opener
The City of Toronto will raise the AFC Toronto flag to celebrate the team’s inaugural season and first-ever home opener. As Toronto’s newest professional sports team and the city’s first professional women’s soccer club, AFC Toronto is making history in the Northern Super League, Canada’s first women’s professional soccer league.
Date: Saturday, April 12 Time: Noon Location: Courtesy flagpole, Podium Roof, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street W.
The ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Olivia Chow and Helena Ruken, Co-Founder and CEO, AFC Toronto, with the entire AFC Toronto team in attendance.
In honour of this historic milestone for Toronto and women’s sports, the Toronto Sign will be illuminated in AFC Toronto’s colours on Saturday, April 19, the night of their first-ever home match at BMO Field.
