MLSE Foundation shoots and the City scores as the Prince of Wales Rink in Etobicoke gets new upgrades

Today, Mayor Olivia Chow and Deputy Mayor Amber Morley (Etobicoke-Lakeshore) joined the Toronto Maple Leafs for their annual outdoor practice. Several new upgrades to the City of Toronto’s Prince of Wales Rink were funded by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation.

Each year, MLSE Foundation hosts a Toronto Maple Leafs outdoor practice at one of the City’s 54 rinks. This year, the team headed to the Prince of Wales Park in Etobicoke for a three-day community event featuring a wide variety of activities for Torontonians including public skating, PWHL and NHL watch parties and the Toronto Maples Leafs Alumni game.

With the support of MLSE Foundation, refurbishments are already underway at the Prince of Wales Rink including repainting interior spaces, new wall-mounted composite benches in the large changeroom and new plexiglass around the rink.

The City’s partnership with organizations like MLSE Foundation has supported many projects across Toronto including the Dixon Park basketball courts Woolner Park Basketball Courts, and now the upgrades to the Prince of Wales Rink. Partnerships like this showcase the City’s commitment to enhancing recreational facilities, fostering community engagement, improving public spaces and reducing financial pressures on municipal assets.

The City is developing an Ice Facilities Strategy, a long-term plan to maximize use and guide future investment in both indoor and outdoor ice facilities where residents skate, play hockey, curl and more.
