Swimmers rejoice: all City of Toronto pools are now open full-time for the summer
Earlier today, Mayor Olivia Chow joined City of Toronto staff to mark the official opening of all outdoor pools and supervised wading pools in a full summer schedule.
Most of the City’s outdoor pools are open daily from noon to approximately 8 p.m. Outdoor leisure swimming is free for all ages and reservations are not required.
The City has more than 140 splash and spray pads operating across Toronto which operate daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are activated with push-button features.
The City encourages everyone to be safe and have fun this summer. Before entering any pool, residents are asked to remember the following:
• Supervision and/or swimming ability requirements are in place for children under 10 years of age.
• Outdoor lane swim is free and open to swimmers seven years of age and older for swimming in continuous lengths or widths.
• Caregivers should always supervise children.
• Pool visitors must listen to the on-duty lifeguards.
Before heading out to cool off, residents are asked to always check the City’s pool closures and service alerts webpage: https://www.toronto.ca/data/parks/alerts/swim/index.html.
More information about outdoor pools, wading pools and splash pads including hours of operation are available on the City’s Swimming & Water Play webpage: www.toronto.ca/swim.
Media requests to film pools can be accommodated at the following locations:
• Alex Duff Memorial Outdoor Pool, 779. Crawford St.
• Donald D. Summerville Outdoor Pool, 1867 Lakeshore Blvd. E.
• McGregor Park Outdoor Pool, 2231 Lawrence Ave. E.
• Monarch Park Outdoor Pool, 115 Felstead Ave.
• Sunnyside-Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool, 1755 Lakeshore Blvd. W.
These designated locations allow media to film from the pool deck without the need to call in advance. Media access will be permitted at these locations only and media must follow staff instructions at the site.
