City of Toronto to break ground on first affordable housing project delivered through new Public Developer Delivery model
On Monday, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Gord Perks (Parkdale-High Park) will break ground on the first of five ‘housing ready’ sites to be delivered through the City of Toronto’s new Public Developer Delivery model. The project will contribute to the City’s HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan (HousingTO Plan) target of 65,000 new rent-controlled homes, including 41,000 affordable rental, 6,500 rent-geared-to-income (RGI) and 17,500 rent-controlled homes by 2030.
Date: Monday, December 16
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: 11 Brock Ave.
Note: Attendees are required to wear hard hats and safety boots.
RSVP: Media personnel are requested to RSVP to media@toronto.ca by 6 p.m.
Toronto City Council approved the Public Developer Delivery model in July, enabling the City to take a greater role in accelerating the creation of non-market affordable rental homes for low- and moderate-income residents. More information on the Public Developer approach is available on the City’s website: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2024.CC20.10.
