Toronto Fire Services celebrate graduation of 25 new Community Risk Reduction Recruits
Today, Councillor Paula Fletcher (Toronto-Danforth) and Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop welcomed 25 frontline staff during a graduation ceremony for the newest group of Fire Prevention Inspectors who will join the Community Risk Reduction Division.
Fire Prevention Inspectors conduct fire safety inspections, address violations, and enforce the Ontario Fire Code (OFC), in accordance with the Fire Protection and Prevention Act (FPPA) and accompanying regulations and Ontario Fire Marshal directives.
The enforcement of the OFC is the backbone of effective fire prevention and plays a critical role in reducing loss of life and property by fire in Toronto.
The 25 Fire Prevention Inspector recruits join the Toronto Fire Services’ Community Risk Reduction Division, with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) professional qualifications as Fire Inspectors and Fire and Life Safety Educators.
TFS is the largest fire service in Canada, providing Toronto residents, visitors, and businesses with a suite of world-class fire protection services that includes public education, fire prevention, OFC enforcement, and all-hazards emergency response.
The City of Toronto is the largest city in North America with an internationally accredited fire service under the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).
